Our Year 8 students recently had an unforgettable experience on their camp to Phillip Island! It was fantastic to see them step out of their comfort zones, strengthen friendships, and engage in a variety of fun and challenging activities.

Last week, families also received the updated Learning Behaviour Reports. These reports provide valuable insights into how students are tracking with their engagement, effort, and classroom behaviours, highlighting both areas of growth and opportunities for further development.

As we approach the end of Term 3, it’s a great time to reflect on the progress our students have made and the skills they’ve developed. We encourage all parents to attend the upcoming Parent-Teacher Conversations to discuss your child’s achievements and how we can continue to support their learning journey.

During week 4, our Year 8 students experienced three unforgettable action-packed days at Phillip Island Adventure Resort. It was fantastic to see them step out of their comfort zones, strengthen friendships, and engage in a variety of fun and challenging activities.

We enjoyed a wide range of activities, including Laser Tag, Giant Swing, Archery, Flying Fox, Disc Golf, and High Ropes. Many students overcame their fears in order to complete the activities, and all students had lots of fun. We cannot wait for camp next year when we do it all again! - Ashden Madex

Throughout the camp, students exemplified our four pillars—engagement, work ethic, relationships, and excellence—while also showing remarkable resilience in the face of both physical challenges and unpredictable weather.

We hope the memories and skills gained at camp will continue to inspire them as they navigate the rest of the school year. A big thank you to all staff who supported the camp and helped make it such a positive and memorable experience for our Year 8 students.

Around the Classroom

Electives

I think that enforcing electives into students’ choice of work gives them a break and some time to do what they like. Electives allow us to clear our minds from the boring work we do every other day. The best part is that we get to choose what we want to do instead of being forced to do the subject like in our normal timetables. Electives also offer quite specific options for example, woodwork where you make sculptures and accessories, or DigiTech where you learn to make programs and code. Therefore, electives have been a thoughtful choice from the school and isn’t just there for our education, it’s for our entertainment too. - Lucas Brooks
