2025 NAPLAN Results

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assesses literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The assessment provides parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process – it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance.

Since receiving our 2025 NAPLAN results, we have completed a thorough analysis of student performance, including how we performed against our Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) targets that were developed for Reading and Numeracy, as well as how we have performed in comparison to similar schools and schools in our Moonee Valley Network. The analysis of our 2025 NAPLAN data has been shared with our whole staff, as well as with our School Council.

We are incredibly proud of the collective efforts of our staff, and the significant investment we have made in resourcing, professional learning, and the systems and structures we have embedded across our school. These foundations have played a vital role in supporting student learning and growth.

As a result, we are pleased to share and celebrate some of our 2025 NAPLAN results with our whole school community. These achievements reflect the dedication of our teachers, the hard work of our students, and the ongoing support of our families.

Reading

Our Year 3 and Year 5 students exceeded the targets in our AIP (Yr 3: 84% and Yr 5: 88%) for the percentage of students in the top two proficiencies (Exceeding and Strong). 93% of students in Year 3 and 97% of students in Year 5 reached this level, which outperformed both similar schools and the Moonee Valley Network.

Writing

94% of students in Year 3 and 95% of students in Year 5 were in the top two proficiencies, which outperformed both similar schools and the Moonee Valley Network.

Numeracy

Our Year 3 and Year 5 students exceeded the targets in our AIP (Yr 3: 84% and Yr 5: 80%) for the percentage of students in the top two proficiencies. 85% of students in Year 3 and 89% of students in Year 5 reached this level, which was equal to similar schools and was higher than the Moonee Valley Network.

Spelling

83% of students in Year 3 and 88% of students in Year 5 were in the top two proficiencies, which outperformed both similar schools and the Moonee Valley Network.

Grammar and Punctuation

80% of students in Year 3 and 86% of students in Year 5 were in the top two proficiencies, which outperformed both similar schools and the Moonee Valley Network.

We are so proud of the collective efforts of our school community and we look forward to continuing to celebrate these achievements and using this data to inform our next steps for future growth.
