Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships

During Term One, the Year Three students have been participating in our Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships Curriculum.
In Topic One – Emotional Literacy students developed the skills to
- Describe the influence that people, situations and events can have on their emotions.
- Investigate how emotional responses may vary in intensity.
- Understand how to interact positively with others in different situations.
One of the activities students engaged in for this topic was to identify what different emotions might look like and what situations might cause these emotions to occur. We ensured a large focus on the understanding that all emotions are okay, we just need to choose the best way to express these emotions.
In Topic 2 – Personal and Cultural Strengths students developed the skills to
- Identify communication skills that enhance relationships.
- Identify personal and cultural strengths.
- Identify ways they can encourage peers to treat others with respect, regardless of their differences.
One of the activities students participated in involved discussing what Respect looks, sounds and feels like. We spoke about how we show Respect to everyone in our home, school and community, regardless of how they might be different to us. This paired beautifully with our Harmony Day celebrations, where students were able to share about their cultural identity and participate in a parade, representing their country with pride.
