Reconciliation
Congratulations to our wonderful Year 3 students who recently completed the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It was a special and meaningful milestone, and we are very proud of the reverence, reflection and maturity they showed throughout their preparation and celebration.

STEM
We are so lucky to have Ms Allen, running our STEM prgram at Sacred Heart. The students were beyond excited and loved their first lesson.

Cross Country
Well done Mr Jayneson organising another fantastic crosscountry day for our students. And a big shout out to all of the Year 3 and 4 students who participated and gave it their all!

Mothers Day
Mother’s Day remains a cherished occasion in our school community, and this year’s celebration was especially meaningful. We extend our sincere thanks to all the mums who joined us on Friday, it was a joy to welcome you into the classrooms and share such a special time together. We hope the experience was as memorable for you as it was for us.
We extend our warmest wishes to all mums for a very Happy Mother’s Day. We also acknowledge and celebrate the special women in our lives, grandmothers, aunts, family friends, and carers, who offer love, guidance, and support each day. May you all feel appreciated and celebrated. Happy Mother's Day.

English
In Literacy, we have been reading Yirra and Her Deadly Dog Demon. We are also learning about adjectives, open and closed syllables, and improving our sentences by adding descriptive words. Reading Yirra and Her Deadly Dog Demon

Maths
This term in Maths, students have explored fractions, identifying halves, quarters, thirds, fifths and tenths with growing confidence. They combined fractions to make one whole and calculated complementary fractions, using diagrams and fraction flags to show different representations. In Measurement, students read scales in millimetres, centimetres, metres and kilometres, comparing, ordering and estimating lengths using appropriate metric units. Hands‑on tasks helped them measure accurately and choose the best unit for each object. It’s been a busy and exciting couple of weeks in maths.
R.E
For our Reconciliation celebration, we had a wonderful time. We also had our retreat day on Wednesday. On retreat day, we had a sausage sizzle at the Ashlin Tree. We were allowed to wear casual clothes, and we got to speak with Father Martin. We also burned our sins with our teacher, Mrs Collins, and lit our candles. We would like to thank Mrs Collins, Miss Maloney, and Father Martin for making the day so special.

English
In English, our Year 4 students have started reading Uncle’s Xbox, a story about family, responsibility and the challenges of making good choices, which has sparked lots of interesting discussions and ideas. A strong focus has been on sentence expansion, with students learning how to include the who and the what, and then improve their writing further by adding adjectives, as well as when, where, why and how.
Students have also begun exploring an information text about Captain James Cook and the First Fleet, building their understanding of historical events while developing key skills in informative writing.

Maths
In Mathematics, our Year 4 students have been developing a strong understanding of multiplication and division. Building on their foundational knowledge, they have been learning to multiply three-digit numbers using a range of strategies and written methods. Students have also been exploring estimation techniques, including rounding numbers up and down, to check the reasonableness of their answers.
Through problem solving tasks, they have been applying these skills to more complex, real-world situations, strengthening both their accuracy and confidence. It has been wonderful to see students explaining their thinking, using mathematical language, and demonstrating persistence when working through challenging problems.

Topic
In Topic, our Year 4 students have been exploring the key reasons behind British colonisation of Australia in 1788, developing their understanding of why Australia was chosen as a new colony. They have been sequencing significant events leading up to the establishment of the First Fleet and the first British settlement, building a clearer picture of how these events unfolded over time.
Students have also investigated the link between Britain’s loss of its American colonies and the decision to colonise Australia, helping them understand how global events influenced historical decisions.
Mothers Day
This week, 4B students have been busily creating special gifts for their mums. It has been wonderful to see the care, attention to detail, and love poured into each card and creation. We hope all our mums have a truly special and well-deserved day.

Kinder Visits
Our Year 4 students are very excited to begin visiting Nagle Kinder this term, where they will have the opportunity to meet the four-year-old students and spend time getting to know them. During these visits, they will play together on the playground, build, create, and share plenty of stories. This is a wonderful chance for the Nagle students to feel more connected to Sacred Heart and begin their transition into Prep next year. Our Year 4s will also take on the important role of being their buddies when they arrive at Sacred Heart next year.
Building the leaders of tomorrow
Our Year 4 students are to be commended for the way they have stepped up to take on leadership roles around the school each Friday. They show responsibility and pride in their environment by helping with tasks such as watering plants, collecting jumpers, and ensuring the school is tidy and well-prepared for the weekend. Their efforts are a wonderful example of teamwork and care for our community.

Please keep an eye on nForma for further details as the events draw closer.
