Thanks to all our families who have contributed so much over this first term. Whether you turned a sausage at the FORPS Picnic, helped shift softfall during a working bee, read with students in the corridors, sold some raffle tickets or simply spent time reading with your child, so many did so much to support the learning of our students. We are looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of Term 2!

2025 Prep Information Morning

A special thanks to staff and parents who joined us on Saturday to welcome a wide range of parents and children to Rosanna Primary School. A large number of parents joined an informative chat about the nature of the school and learned a little bit more about our community. They were expertly led on a tour by members of our teaching team and then feasted on sausage sandwiches! A wonderful day indeed.

Staffing Changes into Term 2

As mentioned in previous newsletters, schools in Victoria continue to experience a high level of difficulty in recruiting teachers. While there are many reasons and diverse responses as to the limited numbers in the workforce, we have been fortunate thus far to have minimised disruption to classes both on a casual basis and in planning longer term replacements.

The start of term two will see a number of changes that have been put in place to continue to ensure the continuity of learning and wellbeing in a range of classes.

At the start of Term 2 we will farewell Mrs Tyler on family leave. We wish her well in the days and weeks to come as she starts her new family. We are fortunate that Shannon Mitchell, our Learning Specialist, will take on teaching 3/4T full time for the initial two weeks of the term. Her experience and familiarity with the students and the Victorian Curriculum will continue to enrich teaching and learning across the 2/3/4 Learning Area. We look forward to confirming a longer term plan that will support students towards the start of next term.

We welcome Ms Lorenzin to the 4/5/6 Learning Area to collaborate with Mrs Daniela Darling in 5/6D for two days a week. I am sure that the experience that she brings from her time teaching at Clifton Hill Primary will ensure a smooth transition for students in that area. To support students with the transition, Ms Lorenzin was resent this morning with 56D and Mrs Darling.

While such changes may be challenging for students, we are confident that the workforce plan in place will continue to ensure the ongoing focus on student learning and wellbeing growth.

Senior Students Participate in Athletics Carnival

Wednesday 27 March

Congratulations to all those students who participated in the District Athletics Carnival yesterday. It was wonderful to hear stories of students giving their best effort and achieving their best results at a range of athletics pursuits.

School Security Over the Holidays

It is great to have our community use our sandpits or basketball spaces in out of school hours. Our school is a community resource that is available for such activity.

Thanks to local families who keep an eye on the school facilities over the break. It has been disturbing to have some of our copper pipes and outdoor spaces damaged due to acts of vandalism. I encourage anyone who sees any suspicious behaviour onsite to report it immediately to the police.

Important Dates for Term 2

A reminder of some significant dates that will move us into term 2;

Monday 15 April is the first day of Term 2. It is also the opening of enrolments for 2025.
Thursday 25 April is a public holiday
Friday 26 April is a scheduled Curriculum Day when students will not be attending school. Teachers will be meeting offsite and exploring the importance of disability inclusion.
