Reading Big Over the Holidays

Good News encourages students to take extra books to read over the holidays. One student took this very seriously. Over the summer break, Wyndham City Libraries ran a reading incentive called "Big Summer Read". Samara Jassal of 6B read over 100 books earning herself first prize.

"The challenge was to read up to at least a hundred books by the end of the competition. Every time you read a book it adds up to the reading list and you earn a lot of reading badges, you could also add reviews of the book you read. At the end of the competition, I read up to 148 books and I got 1st prize which was a Lego Dreamzzz set."

So how did she do it? She read at least two hours a day and also read before bed.

GNLC encourages students to read every day before they go to bed. Students for Prep to Year 9 have regular reading classes and Good News has also recently launched an eAudio book program so there is something for everyone. Not everyone is going to read as much as Samara but what a great example of setting reading goals!

Celebrating Success 2023

At GNLC, we love to celebrate the success of our College community. We have created a digital booklet highlighting some of the many success stories of 2023, including our VCE high achievers. This can also be found on the Academic Results webpage on our website.
