Year 4 NGV Excursion

“Hi my name is Abigail and I’m in 4C and I went to the N.V.G. on March 13th on a Wednesday. I had a fun time there. I saw lots of different art works but my favourite things at the N.G.V was a real banana ducked-taped to the wall, and also my favourite things were the robot dog and the robot Giraffe because it has a mind of its own. Thanks for reading.” – Abigail

“Hi, I am Vincci, from 4C and I am going to tell you about the NGV excursion that we went on with the grade 4s. As we went in, we saw this fire thing and it had real water, but the fire is not real. My favourite art is banana, the yawn and the flower place. The banana was made by Maurizio Cattelan, the yawn was made by Sheila Hicks and the flower place was made by Azuma Makoto.” – Vincci

“Hi my name is Aleksandra. On Wednesday the 13th we went to the NGV  for our excursion. First we went to the pink room. It had pictures on the ground we could stand on because it was her mistake. Next we went to a blank big white room with one banana stuck with duct tape. That was my least favourite. My favourite one was made out of chunks of wool. It was from the floor to the roof. It was my top 1 favourite. When we were going to the next room, there was glass on the floor. It was thick glass and it was not able to break. There were people under it too. We also had lunch. I had ham. I didn't like it. We also had a cookie, juice box and an Apple. All thanks to Ms Reid for scheduling this excursion.” – Aleksandra

“Hello, my name is Azra and on the 13th of March the Year 4’s went to the NGV Triennial Exhibit. There were over 75 projects made by artists all over the world. One of my favourites was the Chaotic Garden by Azuma Makoto which was a dark room full of glass boxes and inside the glass were many different species of flowers including roses, cherry blossoms, sunflowers and more.  In the middle of the room there was a screen that had beautiful videos of wild flowers. There was also a room with plain white walls but in the middle there was a real banana duct taped to the middle of the wall! Many people were confused, it was made to showcase what is considered art these days. I was shocked when the lady said that it was sold for $200,000! 🤯The lunch that was provided wasn’t too bad but it wasn’t delicious either. In the end it was so much fun 🥳” – Azra
