SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING CHALLENGE
The Science and Engineering Challenge (SEC) is a nationwide STEM outreach program presented by the University of Newcastle in partnership with communities, Rotary clubs, universities and sponsors. Through the SEC, students experience aspects of science and engineering which they would not usually see in their school environment.
On Thursday 21st March, 32 students from Years 5 and 6 participated in the challenge against 12 other schools from Tamworth and surrounds. Throughout the day students participated in a variety of hands-on activities developing skills in teamwork, communication, creativity, STEM skills, problem solving and resilience.
St Nicholas was highly successful on the day, claiming first place and winning the challenge. All students had an incredible amount of fun whilst representing our school and their families with pride.
