Biology
VCE Biology students recently undertook the "Transforming Bacteria with Recombinant Plasmid" program, provided by GTAC. This hands-on experience brought the complex world of genetic engineering into the classroom, allowing students to construct recombinant plasmid models and actually transform bacteria with these plasmids. Under the guidance of Heath Matheson, our students explored advanced biotechnological techniques, including bacterial selection. They are now eagerly awaiting the results of their experiment.

Student Executive BBQ
The BBQ on Monday raised approximately $300. Well done to the students and staff involved for their hard work in making a successful fundraiser. Thanks to everyone else for buying a sausage or cupcake, and hanging out to make it fun for everyone.
Journalism
Students have been interviewing people around the school to practice the skills involved in journalism. Billie and Carmela have captured the essence of the local footy league and what it means to 2 of their Under 17 peers.

How’s Pre-season coming along?
Yeah preseasons real good. I’ve been doing a lot of workouts and running with Darc. I'm pushing myself the hardest I ever have - I've spewed at training.
How are the newer players coming along?
Yeah they are good, I can really see the improvement and they are putting in the work and extra hours, seems like they are enjoying it.
How are you feeling about the practice match against Bright?
Feeling pretty good, excited. Will be good to see the boys against another team. Hopefully I can kick some goals.
How are your coaches?
Yeah real good, they are really trying to get the best out of us. Some people think they are pushing us a bit hard but they are just wanting to see us grow individually and more importantly as a team.
Do you think the team is ready for Round 1?
Nah not really. We need to get a good few hard trainings in with some goals and footy boots and show people we are here to play.
Pre-game rituals?
Meat pie and pizza before the game to get the carbs.
AFL team and favourite player?
My AFL team is Collingwood and my favourite player is Jordan De Goey.

Nah, we're not ready for Round 1. Some new players are not quite at the best of their abilities yet.

My AFL team is North Melbourne and my favourite player is Harry Sheezel.
