SPOTLIGHT

YEAR 2

It’s been full steam ahead in Year 2 this term for our learning. It’s a big job (and leap from Year 1) into the life of a Year 2 student. With our open classrooms and beautiful spaces we have been learning all the expectations and responsibilities that being the leaders of infants entails.

The life of a Year 2 student means we are jumping head first into English where we get to learn new and interesting words, we get to read all the stories of wonderful characters while creating our own! Did you know there are over 20,000 species of bees? We got to research and write an informative report on 'Bees' and found out such wonderful information!

In Science we have been learning all about the Sun and sky, recreating different constellations and seeing the effects of the weather on our environment. We even created our very own rain gauge to observe the rainy weather.

During the term we also had the opportunity to participate in AFL clinics. We learnt the skills of passing and kicking goals. It was so much fun!

What a colourful and bright time we are having in Art. We have learnt all about a wonderful artist by the name of Pete Cromer. He is an Australian artist best known for his vibrant colours and bird designs. Just take a look at our renditions of his Australian birds.

We are really lucky at St Nicholas to be able to participate in and dress up in events like green day and create beautiful pieces of artwork to showcase in the art competition. How lucky we are!

It has been a rollercoaster ride settling into our open learning spaces and learning the expectations that are needed to become leaders of the infants. We are so excited to see what Term 2 holds!
