ANZAC DAY MARCH

This year ANZAC Day is during the second week of the school holidays. We encourage all students to attend the ANZAC Day March. Our school will be meeting at 9:30am in Bourke Street (between Peel and Marius). Once the March has concluded students can be collected at No.1 Oval (in between Bicentennial Park and the Town Pool).

Students are to wear full WINTER school uniform. Tidy hair, shiny shoes, school tie and shirts tucked in. No hats and no jumpers please. Please see the photo attached.

This is an important day for our students to proudly represent our wonderful school while honouring the men and women from across our nation.

Children up to eight years old should hold an adult's hand on the footpath, in the car park, or when crossing the road; an adult is defined as a parent, caregiver, grandparent, sibling in high school or older, other relative or neighbour, or other adult as advised by the child's parents/carers.

Children up to ten years old should be actively supervised in the traffic environment and should hold an adult's hand when crossing the road. More information for parents and carers can be found here: https://www.safetytown.com.au/town/teacher/

SCHOOL UNIFORM - SUMMER TO WINTER

With the change of weather and winter approaching, it is time to consider the conversion from summer to winter uniform. We expect that the days will still be warm enough for the students to wear summer uniform on the commencement of Term 2, however it is expected that all students will be wearing the full winter uniform by Monday 13th May. Lowes stock all the St Nicholas uniforms, or we have a selection available in our clothing pool.

HOUSE POINTS

At the end of the year the house points for events throughout the year are tallied and the winning house is awarded.

The events from Term 1 are  - Veritas Awards, Swimming Carnival House Tally, Swimming Champions, Swimming Runner-ups and SRC.

The points at the end of Term 1 are as follows.

Ozanam - 50 points

Dominic - 39 points

Mackillop - 26 points

Edmund Rice 26 points

VERITAS

Our Veritas Awards stem from our school motto - ‘Veritas’ - meaning truth. The Veritas Award is awarded to students who have been consistently displaying citizenship, leadership and/or Christian Living. Students receiving a Veritas Award are those students who have displayed our ‘Rules for Living’ in their everyday interactions. This term our focus is on ‘Valuing, respecting and caring for others’.

Congratulations to the following children who received Veritas awards last week:

Skye Golding, Tyson Amey, Logan Healy, Jaiden Allen, Fletcher O'Connor, Maxwell Edmonds, Eyda Clynes, Georgia Cannon, Sophia Wadwell, Lilly Balderston, Nellie Burgess, Suzi Kunovic, Sophia Shanahan, Lilli Steinbeck, Carter Brown, Ben van Aanholt, Baxter Barry and Lucinda Crockett.

SMART WATCHES

If your child is choosing to wear a smartwatch to school it is important to look at the watch settings so that a child’s learning is not affected if used at the wrong times. Smart watches will need to be "locked" during school hours. Please be assured that if you need to get a message to your child, the front office staff can get the message to them for you. Thank you for your support with this matter.

SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS

All parents need to be aware, our supervision of students

does not begin until 8.15am each day.

St Nicholas School gates will not be open until the arrival of the first school bus at approximately 8.10am. It is not appropriate for children to be at school before this time with no supervision.

If your child/ren require care before 8.15am you may like to consider before school care here at school with Esteem.

COVID INFORMATION

At the end of 2022, National Cabinet announced that people who test positive to COVID-19 do not need to isolate. In line with this announcement, schools will continue to follow guidance issued by NSW Health to support the safety and wellbeing of our school communities.

Staff and Students with COVID-19 Symptoms

If a student or staff member is unwell and has any symptoms they should always test for COVID-19 and not attend school until they are symptom free.

Positive COVID-19 Cases

If a student or staff member receives a positive result with a RAT or PCR test they should:

  1. Notify school of positive results as soon as possible.
