Book Week 2024

It's that magical time in the Library - Term 3 and Book Week. This year's theme is Reading is Magic and once again our week promises to be exciting with lots of activities planned.

The Book Character Parade

One of the highlights of Book Week is the Book Character Parade and it will be held on Thursday 22nd August at 10:30. Parents, carers and our own Little Joey's are all invited. Come dressed as your favourite book character. Parents you are even invited to dress up and join in the event. Remember though the costumes can be really simple. Just choose one of your favourite books and dress up as a character. Bring the book along too. We can't wait to see the creativity of the costumes. Stay and have a cuppa afterwards.

Book Fair

Browse and buy books from a wide selection of books at our Book Fair. Scholastic once again will be hosting and this year it will held over the 2 weeks from the 19th -30th August. Times will be advertised closer to the date and there will be times before, after and during breaks. Hopefully, we cater for everyone. Scholastic provide our school with a wonderful commission to help us purchase new books for our library.

Donate a Book to the Library

Every year we encourage books to be donated to our library. We have already chosen our selection and you can choose from the $10, $15 and $20 piles. If you donate a book your child will be able to borrow it first. Of course this is voluntary.

CBCA Book Awards

Book Week coincides with the announcement of the winners of the Children's Book Council of Australia CBCA Awards. These prestigious awards recognize the best in Australian children's literature. We'll be celebrating the winners and exploring the shortlisted books throughout the term. It's a fantastic time to discover new stories, authors and illustrators.

Book Performance

Next week we have a Meerkat Book Performance on one of the Shortlisted Books- 'Timeless'.

Today in the library children would have familiarized themselves with the book. It is next Tuesday 6th August from 2:00-3:15. Over the last couple of years Meerkat Productions have come and performed the Shortlisted Books and it has been excellent.

We're looking forward to the magic of Book Week!
