Burron Guli and Healing Sistas program

This term we are delighted to have our Koori students actively participating in two incredible programs, the Healing Sista’s and Burron Guli, aimed at fostering cultural connection, self-esteem, and healthy relationships among our youth. These initiatives are made possible through the support of the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-operative (BADAC) and we would like to say a special thank you to the team at BADAC, particularly Tristan and Daen for their support.

The Healing Sista’s program has been empowering our young Koorie women, providing them with a platform to reconnect with their rich heritage and community. Through engaging discussions, activities, and support, our Strong Sista’s are delving into important topics such as respect, self-esteem, and the significance of women's roles in our culture. It's a space where they can learn, grow, and celebrate their identities with pride.

On the other hand, the Burron Guli program has been making waves among our young male Koorie students. This program focuses on nurturing positive relationships, self-awareness, and understanding men’s roles in our community. It's about instilling values of Love, Respect, Responsibility and Safety and provide a deep connection to culture, empowering our young boys to become ‘warriors’ who are strong, responsible leaders within their community.

Well done to all the students who participated in this program.
