Gather up your loose change for Caritas with these awesome activities!

It’s time to check under your car seats or couch cushions, dig deep into your school or handbag and find all that loose change rattling around!

Because the Year 11 VM students have been busily preparing activities for students to support Caritas fundraising efforts.

Here at St Anne’s College, participating in social justice is an important part of our school community. And these planned fundraising activities will not only assist students in achieving social justice, but it has also been a fantastic way to tackle other learning areas such as maths.

Students will be invited to create the longest line made out of donated coins in their house colours. During the set up of this activity, students have also used maths skills to measure the area this activity will take place. The house with the longest coin line and the highest amount in value will be awarded a prize.

This will be followed by the water bucket relay which will highlight the vulnerability and lack of sustainable water sources of some of the communities that Caritas supports.

People from these communities have to travel vast distances to gather water for daily use and their daily supply is limited to what they can physically carry back with them.

In class groups, students will fill a bucket from the water pump and pass it along a line of students, trying not to spill a drop, to a large bucket at the end of the line.

The teams who cooperate with the best teamwork and collect the most water in 10 minutes will receive an award.

Following the implementation of the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022, the number of student free days will increase from 12 to 14 in 2024. Under the policy Primary schools are allowed 9 student free days, Secondary schools and P-12 settings, 14 days. This is in line with the CES Ltd Policies and Procedures.

Dear Families, we apologise for a misprint in a recent letter referring to a Student Free Day on Tuesday, August 23. This should read Friday, August 23. Please find attached a list of all Student Free Days which has appeared in our last few newsletters.
