Interschool Sport Lightning Premiership Day

Last Friday our CEPS teams showcased sportspersonship, skill and teamwork across Hot Shots, Cricket, Tee ball and Volleyball. The sun was shining, and it was a glorious day to be competing and seeing our friends from all of the schools in our district. The students had worked hard over the term to improve their skills and learn as much as they can about the different games.  

 

At Lightning Premiership, teams are divided into Pool A or Pool B. In Pool A, the winning team overall advances to the Division play offs which are held later in the year. In Pool B, it is a chance to consolidate skills and have fun in a competitive way.

It was a fantastic result for all the teams. A huge thank you to the teachers and parent helpers on the day to help make this a successful day. 

 

Cross Country 

Get your running shoes ready because Cross Country is just around the corner!  (4 weeks) Friday the19th of April at Le Page Park. Now is the time to start training, ready for the big day! Whether you're aiming to conquer the course, improve speed or to run the whole way.  We have a training program for you.

 

 

Under 10 years of age (2km run)

Over 10 years of age (3km run)

  • Build endurance - Start with shorter runs and gradually increase the distance.  Aim for 3-4 runs per week.  
  • Interval training - Alternate between running and walking to build stamina.  Begin with shorter intervals and gradually increase the running duration.
  • Strength and Flexibility - Incorporate exercises like squats, lunges and stretches to prevent injury.
  • Consistency - stick to your training schedule.  Rest when needed and stay committed to your goals.

Week 1: Building Stamina

  • Day 1: 10 minutes of brisk walking, followed by 1-minute jogging intervals (repeat 5 times)
  • Day 2: Rest or light activity (e.g., swimming, cycling)
  • Day 3: 15 minutes of brisk walking
  • Day 4: 12 minutes of brisk walking, followed by 1-minute jogging intervals (repeat 6 times)
  • Day 5: Rest or light activity
  • Day 6: 20 minutes of brisk walking
  • Day 7: Rest

Week 2: Increasing Endurance

  • Day 1: 15 minutes of brisk walking, followed by 2-minute jogging intervals (repeat 4 times)
  • Day 2: Rest or light activity
  • Day 3: 20 minutes of brisk walking
  • Day 4: 18 minutes of brisk walking, followed by 2-minute jogging intervals (repeat 4 times)
  • Day 5: Rest or light activity
  • Day 6: 25 minutes of brisk walking
  • Day 7: Rest

 

What a wonderful way to keep fit and healthy over the school holidays.  Please note this is only an example of a program, please feel free to change it to your own fitness level.
