We are thrilled to share the fantastic learning journey that our Year 2 pod, Frog, has been undertaking this term! Our focus has been on information texts, where students have been exploring how to present information clearly and creatively.
After visiting Taronga Zoo in Week 8 of this term, students chose and animal to write an information report on. Students researched different information on their chosen animal and then started to write engaging reports. To showcase their understanding, they also created vibrant posters that highlight the living things found within them. These posters not only display the students' artistic talents but also their ability to communicate important information about an animal.
As part of our Science unit on living things, the students have delved into various habitats, learning about the unique features and organisms that thrive in each environment. Frog 2 have been busy creating imaginative dioramas showcasing the animals they have studied.
We have been learning all about 3D objects in our maths unit this last week. As a Pod have discovered how to identify what makes an object 3D and some of their features. Our understanding of 3D objects helped us to create dioramas.
These three-dimensional models provide a visual representation of their chosen animal's habitat, allowing them to creatively express their understanding of how these living things interact with their environment. Each diorama reflects the students' research and creativity, featuring details such as plants, weather conditions, and other animals that coexist within their animal's habitat. This hands-on project not only reinforces their learning but also encourages teamwork and problem-solving skills as they collaborate and share ideas during the construction process.
We were very lucky and we're able to showcase our learning to other teachers in the school. We can't wait to display these wonderful creations for all our parents and carers to see next term during our Open Day!
