Specialist Subjects

P.E - Auslan - STEAM

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Our Junior students have started to develop their skipping skills. Students have been practicing skipping in the small rope and large rope. Already in a few weeks, we have seen great progression with students understanding the importance of jumping at the right time.

Our Middle and Senior students have finished out Target Games unit by creating their own game.  This has involved students working in small groups to decide the rules, skills required and scoring systems. We have all had a chance to play the games, where students have shown great enthusiasm and creativity. It's been a great experience for all involved!

LOTE - AUSLAN

Across the whole school we are completing a focus on food!

Our Prep students have been busy learning and signing about their own created fruit salads- watermelon has been a very popular choice! Our Grade 1/2 students have created their own pizzas and burgers, including signing all the toppings that they desire.

Our middle students have learnt to sign about things in their existing lunchbox and extended thier creativity to sign about items they would have in a 'dream lunch box'.

Finally, our Grade 5/6 students have created their favourite breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert meal and have been busy trying to learn how to sign all the ingredients and flavours involved - including the temperature!

STEAM: Science, Technology & The Arts

This second half of the term has been packed full of Earth and Space

Science learning!

The Juniors have been focusing on learnig about our Natural Resources with a focus on Water, how we use it, where we find it and the water cycle. We have observed experiments showing the water cycle and created artworks to demonstrate the process. We have also looked at the parts of a computer and what is digital technology and what is not.

The grade 3/4's had a look at how sundials work. We now have an understanding of how shadows that are cast by the sun combined with the movement of the earth can tell us the time. Students have begun looking at erosion and the changes it can make to the landscape.  They have explored water erosion including coastal and beach erosion using hands on examples to see how the rhythm of the waves alter the coastline. They have also explored essential parts of a computer and the periphery components including the types of data they transmit.

The seniors have completed their projects about a chosen planet giving details that make their planet different from the others. We have looked at water colour artists and how they create a wide variety of artworks using the same medium. We then took this knowledge and dabbled with water colour pencils to create an image of our chosen planet to complete our project. We have also examined the components of a computer and the periphery devices and examined the data that we utilise from them.
