Dear OPS Community,
How quickly has Term 2 flown by! It has been a busy term for our students, staff and community. A highlight over the past month has been attending various extra curricula activities with staff and students, these events have included district cross country, Cardinia Shire Reconciliation Week, State School Spectacular rehearsal, Winter Lightening Premiership. It is always great to receive positive feedback from staff at other schools and members of the community on the exemplary behaviour that our students show. I would like to congratulate both Scarlett and Amara on progressing through to regional cross country, both of the girls have strived to do their best and have shown dedication and commitment in their training preparation.
We have our Grade 3-6 campers heading off to Camp Manyung next Wednesday. We are looking forward to a few fun filled days down at Mount Eliza learning new skills, building confidence and resilience while connecting with nature. I would like to thank Emily Waldron for organising this event for our students. Back at school our Prep, Grade 1 and 2 students will be having a big breakfast and PJ day, Ms Prendergast will send out more information about this on compass.
Last Tuesday the students and staff said farewell to Mrs Corinna Vogel. Corrina is taking long service leave to travel overseas and will then be retiring. Corinna has worked here at OPS since 2007, during that time she has run our AUSLAN/signing program and worked with many different students across the school. Corrina will be missed here at OPS but she has promised that she will not be a stranger and will be back to visit. I would like to thank Corinna for her service in education for the past 18 years and all of her contributions to the Officer Primary School community.
COMPASS Calendar
The COMPASS calendar is up and running, we will be using the calendar to share upcoming events and activities for the students and our community. We will still continue to use the calendar on our website and send out our termly calendar with important dates as well.

Uniform
When at school, it is expected all students are wearing the correct uniform. Our school uniform is important because it fosters a sense of belonging, it represents Officer Primary School within our community, and it reduces the focus on what children wear in comparison to others. Regarding our school uniform, it is essential students wear the correct uniform every day, unless there is a casual dress day. Uniform should be kept in good repair and worn neatly. We recommend all uniform items are labelled, iron or sewn on is great and labels should also be on the inside of garments. The only jewellery students should wear are small, plain, and round gold or silver stud or sleeper earrings in earlobes, and watches (Smart watches with internet connectivity and the ability to make and receive phone calls or SMS must be handed into the Office before school and collected at the end of the day). Religious jewellery e.g. crosses, are acceptable but must be worn under clothing and any medical alert jewellery must be worn at all times. If a students' hair reaches their collar, it must secured off the face.
Uniform items can be purchased from PSW Officer 407 Old Princes Highway Officer Phone 9768 0382 Website: https://www.psw.com.au
Officer Primary School also has an excellent selection of second hand uniform available to purchase, the second-hand uniform shop is open on Friday between 8:30 - 9:15am and 3:00-3:30. The second-hand uniform shop is located in the Performing Arts room behind Learning Neighbourhood 1.
