Week 7 was an exciting and busy week for our Grade 1/2 students as we prepared for the school concert! The week was filled with rehearsals, polishing lines, and perfecting dance routines. Students worked hard to add the final touches to their performances, and all their effort truly paid off on Thursday night. Our Grade 1/2 cohort shone brightly as they brought The Lion King to life through their energetic dancing, confident acting, and expressive storytelling.
On Wednesday September 3rd, the Grade 1/2 cohort travelled by bus to Pascoe Vale Girls College for our final rehearsals in the concert venue. With excitement (and just a touch of nerves), students explored the spaces where they would soon bring The Lion King to life.
We practised lining up backstage, waiting quietly, entering and exiting the stage, performing with confidence, and returning to our waiting areas. Students also had the opportunity to sit in the audience and watch other year levels rehearse their items, building excitement for the big night. The rehearsal ran incredibly smoothly, thanks to the respectful, cooperative, patient, and positive behaviour of our Grade 1/2 students.
The following evening, the excitement was through the roof as our students proudly stepped into their costumes and prepared to perform. A huge thank you to families for your support in organising costumes and ensuring students arrived on time — your efforts helped make the night a success!
And what a show it was! 🎶 Our Grade 1/2 dancers dazzled the audience with vibrant, energetic performances to “Just Can’t Wait to Be King” and “Hakuna Matata” — their enthusiasm and confidence lit up the stage.
A special mention goes to our talented actors and narrators, who performed their speaking parts with such maturity and expression. From Simba and Nala to Timon, Pumbaa, Rafiki, and the other characters, these students brought the story to life beautifully and were a highlight of the night.
We are incredibly proud of our Grade 1/2 students for the way they embraced every part of this concert journey. From learning their lines and dance routines to performing confidently under the bright stage lights, they truly proved themselves to be amazing young performers. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork shone through in every moment, and they brought The Lion King to life in a way that wowed the audience. Congratulations to our wonderful students — you were all stars of the savannah! 🌟🦁
