Year Four

Spotlight on Learning

Jericho Community

Dear Families,

On Tuesday the whole school was able to celebrate Pentecost/Multicultural Day in an explosion of smiles and colours. The students were dressed beautifully and creatively while proudly showing off their knowledge of their diverse cultures. It is always a reminder of how blessed we are to be at St. Thomas where diversity is welcomed and applauded. Thank you to our parents for the time taken to help your children shine whether by smiles, costumes or food!

Speaking of food, we had a Guest Speaker from the Sikh Volunteers Australia. We all learnt something new about their beliefs but we think the students were more amazed at the amount of free food they were supplied with! Such generosity within our community.

Next Week we are learning about...

Religious Education Focus

Next week students will develop an understanding of Confirmation and the Holy Spirit. How it works through us to become Heroes of Faith!

Students will be looking at sources of information and investigate what makes a source credible or not. Students will explore how to effectively gather and evaluate information from various sources to understand contemporary civic issues.

Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR

Next week, we’ll introduce a model of apology that guides students in repairing relationships and making things right. They will be learning to describe the kinds of actions that can hurt or upset others, and will practice ways to restore broken relationships.

Important Reminders

Every morning the students complete a 'Check in'. This is generally done between 8:45 and 8:55am.

Thanks for providing your child with fruit or vegetables for their fruit break. We all get a little peckish mid morning, so it helps with our learning.

Please ensure that your child has a bottle of water each day. They are able to refill it when needed.

As the weather is getting colder, bringing a jacket to school to help keep warm when we are outside is recommended. Please put names on all clothing items so they can be returned if they become lost.

Please continue to listen to your child read as this helps to build their fluency and accuracy skills.
