Next week, Week 9 of Term 2, we will be learning and engaging in the following:
Religious Education Focus
Today we are learning about how the Holy Spirit helps us to share God’s love and message with others. We will be reading scripture and reflecting on the story of a man who was hurt and left on the side of the road. Many people passed by and did not stop to help him. But one man—who was not expected to help—chose to show kindness and care.
This story reminds us that with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can show love, compassion, and kindness to everyone, even those we may not normally get along with.
English Focus
We will start Stage 4 sounds, with our focus being on 'j' and 'u'. We will be building words using these sounds, such as jut, up, jet and jam. We will continue to read words with Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 sounds. Please check the reading pouch for the sound sheet every week.
Mathematics Focus
This week, we will be learning about different 2D shapes. Students will explore the lines that make up these shapes, such as straight lines and curved lines. We will look closely at how shapes are formed and learn to describe them by the types of lines they have.
Social and Emotional Learning
This week, we are learning about trusted adults—people who help keep us safe and support us when things feel tricky. Students will explore how to recognise adults they can trust, both at school and at home. We will talk about different situations where they might need help and discuss how trusted adults can support them during those times.
Through stories and class discussions, students will practice what they can do if they ever feel unsure, worried, or upset. We'll focus on the importance of speaking up and knowing that it’s always okay to ask for help from a trusted adult.
Auslan Focus
This week, we will be revising the Auslan signs we have previously learned. Our focus will be on understanding the rules of Auslan, including how facial expressions help to add meaning to what we are signing. Students will have the opportunity to practice their signs and explore how expression plays an important role in communicating clearly and effectively in Auslan.
