Child Safety and Positive Parenting

As a child-safe school, we are committed to creating a community where every child feels safe, respected and valued. This includes supporting families in using positive, respectful approaches to behaviour and discipline at home.

We understand that parenting can be incredibly challenging at times, especially when emotions are high or support is limited. However, it is important to remember that physical punishment, such as smacking or using objects to discipline a child, is not appropriate and can cause both physical and emotional harm. These actions do not align with the values we uphold as a Catholic community, nor with child safety expectations set out by law and the Victorian Child Safe Standards.

If you are finding parenting difficult or feeling unsure about how to respond to your child’s behaviour, please know you are not alone. Support is available. Families can access help through services such as The Orange Door, which offers free and confidential support for parenting, family wellbeing, and safety concerns. You can self-refer and do not need a formal referral to make contact.

As a school, we are here to support your child’s wellbeing and partner with families in promoting a safe, nurturing environment for every child to grow and thrive.
