Foundation: Presenting and Responding to Artworks

Over the last few weeks Foundation students have been learning how to confidently present their artwork to the class. They practised placing their artworks together on the floor like a puzzle to create a whole-class gallery. We then captured a photo and shared it on Seesaw, allowing families to enjoy our digital gallery from home. Students have also learnt how to give positive feedback on each other’s work using the sentence starter: “I like this artwork because of the colours, lines, shapes, or techniques used.” In addition, they are developing skills to describe their own artworks, building confidence in sharing their creative ideas with others.

Grades 1-2: Exploring Font Writing

Over the past few weeks, Grade 1–2 students have been learning about different font writing techniques to enhance their art folder designs. They explored bubble and block writing as the foundation for creating more decorative and creative fonts. Students discovered that bubble writing features curved lines and rounded shapes, while block writing uses straight lines and square edges. Some students have extended their learning by experimenting with other interesting and unique font styles, showing great creativity and enthusiasm in their designs.

Grades 5-6: 3D Athlete Sculptures

Over the past few weeks, Grade 5-6 students have been continuing to develop their 3D athlete sculptures. They have learnt how to apply modroc plaster bandaging to strengthen and shape their forms. Many students have now begun painting and adding fine details to bring their sculptures to life, such as sports uniforms, equipment, and facial features. Each sculpture is starting to show a unique personality, reflecting the creativity and effort students have put into their work.

Students have also been reflecting on their progress—considering what has worked well, what has been challenging, and whether they need to refine any skills or techniques. As their ideas have evolved, many have updated their initial plans to better suit their creative vision.

Kind Regards,
