Performing Arts and Community Update

It’s been a vibrant and rewarding semester across our Performing Arts and Community programs, with plenty of exciting projects underway!

Recorder in Years 3 and 4

Congratulations to Andrew K (4AE), who achieved his Black Belt in recorder this term! This milestone represents weeks of dedication, as Andrew successfully mastered songs from each of the nine recorder “belts” (levels).

Senior and Junior Choirs

This term, the Senior Choir recorded a refreshed version of Advance Australia Fair, while the Junior Choir created a fun “Happy Birthday” track. Both recordings will be featured during our weekly assemblies.

The Senior Choir also had a unique opportunity to lend their voices to "Hatman", a new graphic novel by award-winning author Adam Wallace and composer Drew Lane. The book will be released later this year and will feature special QR codes which are linked to the music tracks.

Community Projects at Mercy Place Aged Care

  • Years 1–3: Reading Buddies. Starting next term, students from Years 1 to 3 will take turns visiting residents at Mercy Place Aged Care in Mentone to read stories and share time together.
  • Year 5: Generations Together Memoir Project. Year 5 students will participate in this special initiative by interviewing residents about their lives and creating personal memoirs for them.

More details about both programs will be shared soon.

Bayside Community Emergency Relief

A wonderful group of senior students has been busy preparing Barbie dolls for care packages that will be distributed to local families in need. With donations of dolls and clothing from generous community members, students have had great fun during recess and lunch, thoughtfully selecting outfits for each doll.
