NEWS FROM THE ART ROOM
Busy, busy times in the art room as the artworks begin to take shape ahead of our Arts Festival in September.
Working Bee
I have many jobs that require extra hands. Our next Art Show working bee will be Friday 27th June from 9am in the art room.
Jobs include labelling work, mounting work and preparing materials.
Please email me at jbrown@spmentone.catholic.edu.au if you can assist on this day.
Alternatively, if there is another day/time that suits to come and help, please drop by the art room anytime Tuesday - Friday.
Clover
Outlines and painting will commence shortly on our cow Clover. The final design will be a combination of many different ideas that students have contributed. Clover will make her first official appearance at our Arts Festival.
National Water Week Poster Competition
As we take a short pause on our work for the Arts Festival,
students will be busy designing and creating posters for the
2025 National Water Week Poster Competition.
Students will use time in class to complete these, either
individually or as a group, using their chosen materials to
complete for submission and judging. This year’s theme is
Water Heroes - Save Every Drop.
Donations
I would love any of the following for the art room please…
-Newspapers for covering tables (already unrolled and flat)
-Spare balls of wool
School Holiday Activity Suggestions
National Portrait Gallery - My Awesome Australian
Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Australian honours system with the National Portrait Gallery and the Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General.
The Australian honours system has been recognising outstanding Australians for 50 years! To celebrate the anniversary, we’re inviting school students from across the country to create a portrait of someone in their community who they think deserves to be recognised.
Selected portraits will form part of an online exhibition that will be officially launched by Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and all participating students will be invited to the virtual opening with the Governor-General during National Children's Week in October.
If your child/children are interested in entering please see
the link below for details. A handy school holiday activity!
