Senior School News

As Term 2 draws to a close, our senior school students in Years 10, 11, and 12 have had a rich and diverse range of experiences, each one helping them build confidence, explore pathways, and prepare for the next stage of their learning journeys.

For our Year 11 and 12 students, the highlight of the social calendar was undoubtedly Prom, which was a wonderful evening of celebration, style, and connection. It was heartening to see students dressed to the nines and enjoying a well-earned night of fun and friendship, with a little dancing to boot.

Our Year 10 students have currently stepped into the world of work through their Work Experience Week. With many gaining valuable confidence in approaching and communicating with companies for placement. It was a fantastic opportunity to link classroom learning with real-world experience.

In the classroom, the term has seen a strong academic focus, with all senior students navigating mid-year exams. Staff were impressed with the maturity and the commitment students showed in their preparations and performance which is a testament to their growing responsibility as learners.

Year 12 students also had the benefit of working closely with Helen Billet, who delivered targeted English support to students in refining their writing, analytical thinking, and exam strategies. This has been an invaluable addition to their VCE preparation.

Another key highlight was the Tertiary Information Service (TIS) event, where senior students explored future study and training options, gathered information from universities and TAFEs, and asked questions to help clarify their post-school plans.

Most recently, Year 11 and 12 Vocational Major students attended the ‘Explore your Paths Careers Expo’ in Bairnsdale, hosted by the LLEN. This hands-on event introduced students to a wide range of industries, from agriculture and manufacturing to healthcare and innovation. Students particularly enjoyed engaging in interactive experiences such as climbing wind turbines via VR and exploring safe driving simulations. The feedback from industry representatives was positive, praising our students for their enthusiasm and engagement.

We are proud of all that our senior students have achieved this term and look forward to building on these experiences in Term 3, with key events such as the Careers Expo and VCE Parent-Student Meetings coming up early next term.
