Kitchen Garden

Open Classes - Open Garden

On Thursday 3rd July, classrooms will be open in the afternoon for families to see students' work. The garden will also be open for families to walk through. We will set up the market cart with some preserves, plants, seeds etc so bring along some money to stock up on garden goodies.

Kitchen Garden

4G have enjoyed participating in the Kitchen Garden program this term and despite the cooler weather arriving, they’ve had some pleasant afternoons in the garden.

Thank you to Peta and Tessa’s Grandma Di for volunteering their time and helping the children with garden activities.

Students have planted different types of both seeds and seedlings, as well as some bulbs.

We have explored the different types of worm farms and composting methods, from feeding worms, adding brown and green layers to compost, to finally emptying and spreading compost onto the gardens.

Rakes, spades, forks and garden hand tools have tested students skills, showing us they can correctly and safely use garden tools to complete tasks.

Seeds from summer have been sorted and stored for spring and summer planting.

The garden has inspired creative minds, fabric painting calico bags.

And lastly, a succession of carrots are ready, so we’ve enjoyed eating some crunchy carrots.

Over the next couple of weeks 4G will have a session in the garden and a cooking session to complete program.
