FROM THE PATHWAYS TEAM

Why Work Experience Matters

This week, our Year 10 students are out on Work Experience—an exciting opportunity that, for some, could be life-changing.

Choosing a career can be daunting when you're relying only on what you’ve read or imagined. Work experience helps bridge that gap by giving students a real taste of the working world. It’s a chance to see what jobs are really like beyond the glossy surface of movies or social media.

Whether it confirms a passion or rules out an idea, Work Experience lets students try different roles and industries before making long-term decisions. It also helps develop valuable skills—like communication, teamwork, and professionalism—that can’t always be taught in a classroom.

Just as importantly, it builds confidence and helps students stand out when applying for jobs or further study. Employers value practical experience, and this week gives our students a head start.

We're bringing it back, our students will be designing the front cover of this years yearbook! This is an incredible chance to leave your unique creative mark and celebrate our inspiring theme: "Growing Stronger Together." What does "Growing Stronger Together" mean to you? All the detailed instructions on how to submit your amazing designs, including creative guidelines and submission format, can be found by scanning the attached QR code.

Once all the awesome entries are in, they'll be displayed in the DC from August 4th to 8th. That's your chance to check out all the amazing artwork and vote for your favourite during recess and lunchtime.
