I would like to congratulate all students on the successful completion of the mid-year exams, with some taking place in normal class time and others in formal exam arrangements in 311, that replicate VCE examination conditions. The exams provide an excellent opportunity for students to practice exam techniques and recalling their learning over the semester, while also providing another opportunity for students to receive purposeful feedback that can inform their learning moving forward.
In addition to completing the mid-year exams, all students completing a unit 3&4 VCE subject (Year 12 subject) completed the General Achievement Test (GAT) on Tuesday June 17.
In addition to the academic opportunities there have also been a plethora of co-curricular activities taking place across every year level with Our Year 9’s enjoying their urban camp in Melbourne, Outdoor Education students continuing to adventure down the coast, students competing in inter-school sports, our Rugby Academy students continuing to play other schools, most recently defeating Narre Warren, Music performances and students preparing for our college production of Grease, which we look forward to seeing in September. Some of our senior students are now preparing for our snow trip to Mt Hotham in the first week of term 3 and we had our first information session for our 2026 study tour of Indonesia.
It has been brilliant to continue to see that so many of our students have been demonstrating our College values of Commitment, Teamwork, Respect and Excellence and that this has been consistently recognised by our staff. This year we have allocated over 12,000 success passes to students who are demonstrating our values. We look forward to awarding many more over the remainder of the year and celebrating with students at our next whole school assembly at the beginning of term 3.
A friendly reminder that both students and parents can view success passes awarded on Compass.
As is the case every year, NAIDOC week will fall in the school holidays. NAIDOC week celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is an opportunity for all of us to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and celebrate the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
You do not need to partake in formal celebrations to participate in the week and I would encourage everyone to engage in some way, whether it be big or small.
Thank you to families who have been communicating with us about student absences. We greatly appreciate this and have been working hard to ensure that students are at school as much as possible. Research confirms that there is a strong correlation between students attendance and their social and academic outcomes. All students should be aiming for a minimum of 95% throughout.
Finally, I would like to again remind families of when they are picking students up during the school day that to minimise disruptions to learning, we kindly ask that student pick-ups be scheduled during our break times to allow continuity of learning. Wherever possible it is best if students know what time they will be picked up. If you do need to collect your child during class time we will not make unnecessary calls to classrooms, as we do not want to disrupt the learning of all students.
Please see our break times below:
Recess: 10:14-10:35am
Changeover between session 2 & 3: 11:49-11:55am
Lunch: 1:09- 1:50pm
I would also like to give a friendly reminder to please drop off students to school outside of the school gates, the carpark next to the school can be an excellent spot for this. We have experienced issues of congestion in our staff carpark.
Thank you for your assistance with this.
