Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Carers, Students and Members of the Applecross Senior High School Community,

Welcome to the 2026 school year and to Applecross Senior High School's first newsletter for the year.

I would like to provide a clear update regarding principal leadership at Applecross SHS.

Mr Shane Easton is no longer available to commence as Principal of Applecross SHS. The Department of Education has therefore appointed Ms Karina Shearing, currently Principal of Geraldton SHS, as the substantive Principal of Applecross SHS, commencing Monday, 23 February 2026.  We look forward to welcoming Ms Shearing to our school community.

In the period leading up to Ms Shearing's commencement, the Department of Education has asked me to provide principal leadership continuity and support the Applecross SHS Executive team to ensure a smooth and orderly transition.  I am the long-term Principal of Carine SHS, a school of similar size and context to Applecross SHS, and I am pleased to support the school during this interim period.  I would also like to thank Ms Toni Jones for her executive leadership and professionalism in leading the school through the first few days of the school year.

School operations will continue as normal.  Teaching and learning programs, student support structures, wellbeing services, routines and expectations remain unchanged, and our focus remains firmly on high-quality learning, student care and a safe, positive school environment for every student.  During this interim period, the Applecross SHS Executive team and I will lead the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring continuity and a smooth transition to Ms Shearing's commencement.  We will continue to communicate with families and students, including any further updates as required.
