Camps, excursions and activities

Drumbeat
For the last 6 weeks of Term 4 we had our second Drumbeat program for 2025. This program was offered to student who continuous display our School values: Respect, Resilience, Responsibility and Learning. Students were selected from Year 7, 8 and 9. Thank you to James Wood for facilitating the program.
Activities Week Excursion – Bendigo
On Monday 15th December, 29 Year 7–9 students headed off on the highly anticipated Activities Week excursion to Bendigo. The first stop was The Hold Bouldering Gym. Bouldering is similar to rock climbing, except there are no harnesses or ropes. This was a fantastic experience that really tested students’ grip and upper body strength, as well as their fear of heights.
After lunch, the next stop was ten-pin bowling, where Mr Tatchell gave the students a bowling lesson and recorded the highest score, followed by Mr Calvert and then Oakley.
Thank you to Mr Calvert for organising the excursion, and to Mr Tatchell, Mr Rodger, Miss McKay and Mrs Griffiths for accompanying the students.
Bendigo Bank helps upskill Year 12 students.
The Bendigo Bank, through current Chairperson Daryl Warren, has kindly offered to cover the cost of the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course for all of our 2025 Year 12 students. Eight students took up this generous offer. The Bendigo Bank hopes to upskill our Year 12s with this qualification as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives. Students can use this certification to support applications for part-time work or in volunteer roles with their future sporting clubs.
Thank you to the Bendigo Bank for this generous contribution. They intend to offer this opportunity each year to the outgoing Year 12 cohort after they complete their exams.
University Collaboration Excursion
Last Wednesday, 10 December, 13 students attended a University Collaboration Day at La Trobe University in Bendigo. This event brought together Melbourne University, Deakin University, Swinburne University, RMIT, Australian Catholic University (ACU) and La Trobe University to showcase a variety of courses to Year 8 and 9 students from rural schools.
The event was fully funded by the universities and provided our students with insight into a range of courses, including Engineering at Deakin University, Sports Science and Exercise Rehabilitation at ACU, Film and Television at Swinburne University, Law at Deakin University, and Science at Melbourne University. The workshops were interactive, and our students had a fantastic day.
Thank you to Mr Potter and Miss McKay for accompanying the students.
