Principal's message

Hello Alvie families,

As we come to the end of the year, I would like to take this opportunity to farewell our school community and thank you all for the support, kindness and partnership you have shown throughout the year. It has been a privilege to work alongside our students, staff and families, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together at Alvie Primary School.

Looking ahead to 2026, there are a few important organisational changes to be aware of. Due to our Library and Art van visiting the school on Mondays, our whole school assembly will move to Friday afternoons at 2:50pm. We look forward to continuing to welcome families to assemblies at this new time.

School Council has approved two Curriculum Days for 2026. These will be held on Friday 6 March and Monday 3 August. Further reminders will be shared closer to the dates.

For our Prep students and families, please note that during February, Prep students will have Wednesdays as rest days. This is an important part of supporting a gentle and successful transition into full time schooling, allowing students time to rest, reset and build stamina during their first weeks of school.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ailie for her contribution to the school this term. She will be greatly missed, and we hope that one day she may be able to rejoin the Alvie Primary School staff.

In these final weeks, each class has been focusing on “savouring the year” through activities centred around the question, "What makes Alvie great?" You will see some of this wonderful work shared below. Savouring positive experiences is an important practice for mental health, as it helps children reflect on moments of joy, connection and achievement. Taking time to notice and appreciate these moments supports wellbeing, builds gratitude and strengthens a sense of belonging.

While Alvie will look very different in 2026, change brings many positive opportunities. It has been heartening to hear from our new and old staff and from several parents about what they are looking forward to as we move into the new year. There is a strong sense of optimism and excitement about the next chapter for theschool.

I wish all of our families a safe, restful and happy break.
