Auslan
(Michelle Rees) | In Term 1, students will be learning signs related to classroom instructions, school subjects, family names, hobbies, and Easter. They will practise using these signs in simple sentences and short conversations, helping them build confidence in communicating everyday ideas in Auslan. Through interactive activities and games, students will continue to develop their signing skills and understanding of how Auslan is used in real classroom and social situations. |
Performing Arts
(Jodie Davis) | Level 1In Term 1, students will learn about rhythm and beat using ta and ti-ti. They explore melody through so, mi, and la and practise pitch matching through singing activities. Students learn about dynamics (forte and piano), develop vocal expression and play both tuned and untuned percussion instruments.
Level 2In Term 1, students will explore rhythm using ta, ti-ti, and za and learn melody patterns using so, mi, la, and low do. They practise pitch matching and begin identifying pitch differences. Students learn about dynamics (piano and forte), create simple musical compositions, develop vocal expression and play tuned and untuned percussion instruments. |
Visual Arts
(Grace Tyrrell) | In Term 1, students will begin by revising colour theory and explore the effects of different colour combinations while painting abstract, organic shapes. These shapes will then be transformed into ‘Blobby Birds’, inspired by the book Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg. Later in the term, students will create an Easter egg reduction print, inspired by the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s Easter Picnic by Eric Carle. In addition to this, students will have regular opportunities for art appreciation, whereby they will discuss their own work and that of others. |
Physical Education (P.E)
(Chris Steele) | In Term 1, students will focus on developing and refining running, dodging and sequenced movement skills with correct action and a variety of speeds. Through fitness activity and games, they will engage in moderate to vigorous activities. Students will explain the contribution rules and procedures make to the safe conduct of games and activities. Students will also concentrate on skills specific to underarm and overarm throwing, catching, Bounceball (volleyball game), Cross Country and athletics. |
