Class Parent Representatives

This year we will again establish a Class Parent Representative scheme at Essex Heights Primary School. This involves appointing a parent (or partnership of parents) from each class to perform the role of Class Parent Representative.

The role is an important one in building connection and community within our school. The Class Parent Reps become a point of contact for other parents in the class. They play a role in managing the class contact list and reminding and following up on things like excursions, working bees, Showcase, PFC activities, etc. The Class Parent Reps may also take a role in arranging social events for the parents in one class or across a year level. They may be asked by teachers to arrange classroom helpers, excursion assistants, sport support, class working bees and so on. In many cases these tasks can be carried out through a reminder email or class WhatsApp group so this does not need to be a time-consuming role. It is, however, one that has the potential to add great value to our school community.

We would expect that our Class Parent Reps will also liaise with the Executive of our Parents & Friends Club (PFC) to provide support for our community building events and/or fundraisers.

Thanks to the parents/carers who have nominated to be the Class Parent Rep for their child’s class – this is greatly appreciated. We did not receive nominations for every class so a request has been reissued with responses due by next Tuesday, 24 February.
