Marimba

All students in Years 4, 5 andto 6 participate in the Marimba Program and are part of a Marimba Ensemble. Students attend a weekly rehearsal for 30 minutes with their classmates and class teacher, generally held in the Hall. The Marimba Program is an extension of the Classroom Music Program. 

During rehearsals, students are given the opportunity to improve their:

• listening skills
• memory
• co-ordination
• concentration
• ability to follow instructions
• self-control
• teamwork
• sense of community
• performance skills

The Marimba Ensemble teacher is Blake Hansen. Blake is an experienced music teacher who has taught the marimba program at Essex Heights for the past four years. 

The Year 4 marimba groups will perform in a special concert towards the end of the year, and Years 5 and 6 Marimba Ensembles will perform at Showcase in Term 4. Following Showcase, Year 6 students will focus on preparing the musical items for their Graduation celebration at the end of Term 4.
