What is SWPBS?

SWPBS stands for School Wide Positive Behaviour Support and is an evidence-based framework used to help support effective teaching and learning by maximising success and engagement in all students. This is done through consistent school-wide procedures and practices centred around our school's vision and values of Kindness, Respect and Courage to create a safe, inclusive and positive school environment. 

One of our current practices is our whole-school reward system focused around a goal for students to work towards. Our current goal is to Show a Growth Mindset. When teachers notice students displaying a growth mindset such as having a go at something they find tricky, persisting in a task, or trying something new, they may give them an acknowledgement token. Students take their token to the office and receive a sticker to add to our chart. 

Once we reach the goal of 500 tokens, we do something to celebrate as a whole school. This could look like walking to Gillian oval for games, watching a movie or having a dance party on the basketball court! Each token then goes in the draw at assembly to win a hot chocolate. 

We are nearly halfway to our goal with 244 tokens! You can support this work by talking about our school values and growth mindset at home, and celebrating positive feedback received at school.
