End of Term Primary Assembly

Prep-Year 6 students came together for a special assembly at the end of last term. During the assembly our Cross Country Champions (see photo above) were awarded their medallions, and we prayed for and said thank you and farewell to our two student teachers.

Miss Mansley and Miss Borst have been working in our Prep classrooms this term, and we will miss them very much! Both spoke about why they want to become teachers, and their time with us. Miss Mansley said she believes it "is a blessing from God to be a teacher" and she loved watching the spark students have when they realise that they know something new. Miss Borst said that "it is great to see students growing and learning" and loved how she also learned with and from students. We wish them all the best in the remainder of their studies.

It has been a busy week in the Primary School as the term comes to an end. Our teachers have had the privilege of meeting with parents this week during parent-teacher interviews. These sessions bring long but rewarding days for staff, as we strive to continue to build a strong partnership between home and school.

Primary Teachers were blessed by thoughtful Year 2 students who made them yummy 'Parent Teacher Boosting Treats'. 2G created these treats as part of the 'Thread of Practising Hospitality'.

Hotham Ski Trip

A number of upper Secondary School students and staff began the winter break with a week of fun in Mt Hotham. This bi-annual trip is a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore new places and experience winter sports in a way they might not have otherwise.

The fresh mountain air and thrilling runs provided a much-needed mental refresh. After studying and exams, hitting the slopes was the perfect way to de-stress. The trip also fostered a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork. A big thank you to the staff who took time out of their winter break to facilitate this amazing trip.

The breathtaking views and the intricate details of snowflakes remind us of the incredible artistry and power of God in creation. It’s a profound moment of awe that helps us appreciate the magnitude of His work: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." Psalm 19:1

Term 3 Begins

Last week we welcomed staff, students, and parents to Semester 2. It was a wet and dreary winter's day, but Bloom coffee van brightened the morning with their delicious hot drinks and warm smiles at school drop-off.

During the Year 7 to 10 combined class teacher, Mrs Armstrong shared about the importance of rest. She reminded us that we are supposed to take breaks - and deserve to rest. God rested on the seventh day, and His example reminds us that holidays are a time to recharge and reflect after working hard during the term.

Term 3 offers us a fresh start - every new day does. We give thanks to the Lord for His faithfulness and mercies and commit Term 3 into His hands.

TRJ Sleepout

For over 20 years The Rite Journey has been providing unique educational programs to support the development of self-aware, responsible, respectful, resilient and resourceful adults.

In Year 9 at LCS, our students take part in this vital course. During the year TRJ students take part in a variety of extra-curricular activities, and last term they enjoyed the annual winter sleepout. The TRJ sleepout gives students the opportunities to bond through a series of challenges, and to build shelters and cook their own meals with campfire.

A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers who made this camp possible - and well done to Year 9 for embracing the camp with such positivity.

PD Art Classes

It has been a pleasure to have Manuela Pilz (Drawing Room) running a weekly drawing class for staff this year. Manuela runs professional development art classes for primary and secondary school teachers and believes that this helps teachers reconnect with their own personal art practice, as well as developing new skills.

Last term, staff enjoyed the "Back to Basics Drawing for Teachers" course, where they built confidence in observational drawing and tried out graphite and colour pencil on toned paper. This term they will be building on skills involving line work, hatching and contour drawing, with an introduction to pen and ink.

Winter Pancake Breakfast

Year 8 celebrated the halfway point of the year by enjoying a pancake feast! It was a great way to start the day, and students did a fantastic job helping make and eat the yummy food.

A big thank you to the staff who helped with the barbie.

Winter Warmer

Brrrr! It sure is chilly this time of year on our little island. Mrs van Donselaar's Year 5 class made a delicious vegetable soup yesterday - and not only was it tasty and nutritious, but it was also a great way to beat the winter chills. The students did a wonderful job bringing in veggies and preparing the soup.

All-Schools Cross Country @ Symmons Plains & LCS Cross Country Champs

Congrats to our team who ventured out to Symmons Plains in Week 7 to compete and represent LCS at the All-Schools Cross Country.

The carnival is actually 2 carnivals in one, with the results from the All-Schools used to calculate the NSATIS Cross Country results (which we are yet to receive).

It was a nice day and not as cold as previous years, our team did a great job representing LCS and as always, enjoyed the maccas run on the way back!

A special shout out to Sam Strating who finished on the podium in 3rd place with a sensational run!

Thanks to Mrs. Sheree Stokes and Mrs. Barracu who came along to support the team.

Also well done to our LCS Cross Country Champs who are listed below, there is also a slideshow attached to this news item which shows the top 6 runners in each age group as well as some participation stats!

Junior Soccer Premiers 2024!

Well done to our NSATIS Jnr. Boys 2nds Soccer Team who won the Premiership yesterday afternoon!

The boys conceded the first 3 goals of the match within the first 10 minutes (2x30min halves) but they clawed their way back into the contest to be 3-2 down at the halftime break. A fantastic second half saw the boys pile on another 3 goals to take out the Jnr. 2nds premiership 5-3 over Grammar.

It was awesome to see the LCS community in action with a far bigger crowd presence than the home team.

Go LCS!!

Important Reminder: Parking @ LCS

We would like to remind everyone about the importance of adhering to our school's parking policy. It is crucial that we all abide by the posted speed limit to protect the safety of our children and other users of this shared space. Failure to do so puts our ability to continue using Windsor Park for drop-off and pick-up at risk.

Please take a moment to review the attached parking policy, which outlines the guidelines and expectations we must follow. Compliance with this policy is not optional - it is essential for the wellbeing of our school community and our continued use of this facility.

We urge everyone to drive slowly and carefully when entering and exiting the park and to ensure that you park in a safe manner within the designated areas. Let's work together to address this issue before it escalates further.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
