On the 22nd of May, 5 beautiful year 10 girls spent 3 sessions with RMIT STEM ambassadors to develop their leadership skills. They then lead a day with 40 Grade 6 Oak Park primary students, to teach them about microbits, coding and developing a reaction game. Throughout the session they were able to lead, problem solve and interact well with the students. They were amazing!
The VM Beef Bacon & Egg Breakfast was a huge success!
We sold more rolls than we could count, and had a great time doing it! Year 12 VM students worked as a team, and the morning ran so smoothly!
Each group of students (cooks, stock count, budgeting etc) worked so well together, the whole morning ran like clock work.
Well done team! Maybe we should open our own café?
On the 27th May sixteen year 11 and 10 students went on an art excursion to NGV International and the Top Arts exhibit. Students were impressed with the range and quality of artworks in the 2024 Top Arts exhibit.
Students were also able to participate in a mark-making workshop at the NGV where students were inspired by Joshua Yeldham artworks. Students were able to view artworks that used mark-making in various ways around the gallery.
Students were then able to make an artwork in response to these artworks using a dremel tool as well as other marking-making tools. Students were engaged and really enjoyed this practical workshop. Check out some of their amazing art below!
In Personal Development Skills, year 12 VM students taught the class!
Lessons ranged from soccer games, dodge balls, to making chocolate truffles, and thick shakes.
Students wrote lesson plans, gave instructions and demonstrations, and of course had a great time doing it!
Each student showed great leadership skills, and needed no assistance in teaching their classmates a new skill!
Year 11 VM Literacy students used their investigative skills to kind the killer! This term, students participated in a state-of-the-art Glenroy College Murder Mystery!
VM Detectives read witness statements, watched interrogation videos and completed a series of activities to figure out…. “Who Offed Mr. Arney”. We can’t say too much about the case, and it is top secret, but we can confirm that it in fact WAS a teacher at our school!!
Poor Mr. Arney, it was a poison apple that did it in the end!
It was a great activity and we thank all of the teachers who took the time to be involved.
Recently two students Waile O, and Adham T were signed up for their School Based Apprenticeships! Such an amazing achievement for them!!
Both have started their carpentry careers while still at school, and work hard toward their qualifications two days per week!
Baha’a A is still working hard toward his Refrigeration Mechanic qualification, and will finish year 12 with almost a year knocked off his apprenticeship!!
Well don’t worry boys, we can’t wait to call you when we need a house built, and some aircons installed!
This year Glenroy introduced a VET Beauty Course to their school. Students from different surrounding schools have been coming to Glenroy either in the morning or in the afternoon to study a Certificate III in Beauty Services.
So far, we've learnt infection control/Safety standards as well as Health and Hygiene, and Makeup application/Makeup for photography. We were provided with an amazing Makeup kit each, to help us complete the practical sessions for this topic.
It's so amazing to be able to bond with people outside your school and learn the different ways of how each person applies their makeup and help each other with theory work. We all love the course, and the support we get from our amazing teacher Ms Amy, is really encouraging.

On Tuesday the 11th of June and Wednesday 12th June year 12 students accompanied by Ms Lynch, Ms Rzasowski and Mr Dodson attended an overnight Study Camp to Malmsbury.
In addition to undertaking GAT preparation facilitated by Mr Dodson, year 12s engaged in the ‘leap of faith’, the crate stacking challenge and camp cooking. In leisure time, they had access to the on-site gym, trampolines, rec room and outdoors. It was a late night for many (especially the teachers) but enjoyable for all involved.
