Medication at School

Gallery Image

This is a reminder to parents that any medication that is to be taken by your child during school hours must be

  • in its original container and bear the original label with the name of the student and information on the dosage and time to be administered
  • accompanied by written directions including advice for storage and administration
  • within its expiry date

All medication, except asthma puffers for those students able to self administer, are required to be held in the school office.

Schools are required to obtain written advice on a Medication Authority Form which is attached herewith and also can be obtained from the office. It is recommended that the form be completed by the student’s medical/health practitioner ensuring that the medication is warranted. However, if this advice cannot be provided the principal may agree that the form can be completed by parents or carers.  It is recommended you take a copy of the attached Medication Authority when you visit the GP in anticipation of being prescribed Pharmacy dispensed medication (a course of antibiotics etc.,) for your child, that will need to be administered during school hours.

Message from Advancedlife (re: School Photos)

Advancedlife would like to apologise for the  delay in the distribution of the school photographs. We recently implemented new software and systems to enhance our photo processing and delivery procedures. Unfortunately, unforeseen technical issues arose during this transition period, causing delays in editing, processing, and ultimately delivering the final products to you. We understand the importance of these school photographs, capturing precious moments and memories that will be treasured for years to come. I deeply regret that our new systems and software issues have jeopardized the timely delivery of this year’s school photo packages.

I want to assure you that every effort is being made to speed up the delivery process without compromising the quality of the final product. Measures have been put in place to prevent such delays from happening again, and we are committed to ensuring a smoother and more efficient distribution process moving forward. All our staff understand that you have placed your trust in us to capture and deliver these important school memories. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we are dedicated to making this right for you.

We are truly grateful for the opportunity to serve your school community. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the delay or if you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Advancedlife directly on 9852 1133. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we are here to assist you in any way we can. Thank you for your understanding.

The Lost Property Box is located in the Office Admin area.

We request that parents clearly label children’s jumpers, water bottles and any toys they may bring to school so that ownership is easily established.

Our lost property box has a few almost new, unmarked items.

Please visit the Office and check for any lost property as the office will need to regularly cull any items that remain unclaimed over a week or two, due to storage constraints.

Student Absences:

Please remember to inform the school if your child is going to be late or away from school. Teachers generally check Seesaw/email messages just before and/or immediately after school as they are busy teaching during class ie. before 8:30am and between 3:15-3:30pm. As such, it is important to also advise the office of any absences so that the student roll is updated accordingly.

Call the school office on 9560 8491 and leave a voice message (absences) or email:

info@leonardsgwav.catholic.edu.au and Seesaw/email your child's classroom teacher by 8:30am.

Kindly note that the school still requires written notification of why a child is absent on any day. These notes will be held by the classroom teacher and archived at the end of the year.

Working with Children Check

The school is very appreciative of the ongoing support we receive from the parent community. We wouldn't be able to facilitate many events without the parents involvement. It is important to note that the school requires all adults volunteering in the school to carry a valid WWCC that can be presented on request (i.e. the physical card)

We also request that all families remaining at school after the bell at 8:45am, please sign in at the office as a Parent Visitor/Helper as the case may be, so the school meets its child safe regulatory requirements and also are aware of any extra head count in case of an emergency. We appreciate your understanding and action.

The second hand uniform shop will reopen to families on Friday, 21st June at approximately 8:45am. If you plan to visit the shop, please park at the Springvale Road entrance and ensure you sign in as a Parent Visitor at the office.

The PFA welcomes donations but request that clothes donated are in reasonably good condition and are items from the school approved uniform supplier (instead of being generic items from Target or Kmart). Thanks in advance.
