Partnerships and Pathways
There’s a clear theme and focus on health and wellbeing in pathways at the moment!
We're thrilled to announce that 16 lucky students in Years 9-12 have won a free half-year gym membership! Plus Fitness Glenmore Park wants to assist students in the local community on their health and fitness journey and to show their support they have generously given these winners six months of access to their facilities at no cost. Plus - families of the College are entitled to one (1) free seven day pass to use at the gym (simply mention Caroline Chisholm College to redeem this promotion). A big thank you to Sarah and the incredible team at Plus Fitness Glenmore Park for making these generous offers possible!
Our ever-expanding Lunch and Learn guest speaker series recently featured two of our very generous parents. Tim Parsley, a highly experienced Principal Spacecraft Engineer from Optus Satellite and Space Systems, shared his diverse and fascinating 30 year career, including the skills and qualities required in his role, the value of ongoing education and the importance of mentoring. Our students were equally privileged to hear from Vanessa McIver whose decades of experience in nursing, including ICU/emergency and the Royal Flying Doctor Service, had her audience captivated as she shared her own inspiring career journey over 30 years. Vanessa truly embodies the wonderful calling that is nursing. Thank you sincerely to both Vanessa and Tim!
This Monday we welcome Kia from Nepean Health Pathways (NSW Health), who will discuss careers in medicine, allied health, nursing and midwifery, including traineeships and cadetship opportunities. Next term we welcome Opal Healthcare - talking about opportunities and pathways to industry work experience and employment, including scholarships and also Dr Tiana Castillo who has worked in pathology, orthopaedics and neuroscience.
Sydney, Notre Dame and UNSW have headlined our university showcases for Years 11 and 12 - and next term we’re featuring apprenticeships, traineeships and vocational education and training with TAFE, Australian Training Company and 1300 Apprentice on the calendar.
For our Year 12’s being fit and prepared for the HSC remains a top priority and so here are some important reminders for students and families. UAC is the central hub for registering university preferences, early entry (SRS) and EAS all in the one place. Steps to Uni for Year 11 and 12 Students provides information about applying for tertiary study through UAC. It explains the process of applying to university, managing an application, accepting an offer and enrolling. Here is information on early offer schemes for Year 12 students - find out which unis will make early offers to Year 12 students, and how to apply for them. With the Uni Open Day season upon us, now is the time to experience in-person what a campus vibe is like, as well as talking to the key staff on hand. These are the upcoming Open Days - taking the time to visit can be a very practical way to help make decisions around where and what you want to study. Finally, keep working on your Post School Plan (started in recent Wellbeing lessons) and the School Leaver Toolkit which can be found within the lower section of the Careers Canvas page [see just below the 8 hyperlink boxes].
Students from Years 7-12 can keep up to date with all our careers news and resources - including Careers at Canvas, the Ponder Pathways Hub and Beyond.
To book a coaching conversation, or for any pathways enquiries, students can pop into the library or email us: amacnamara1@parra.catholic.edu.au and koliver4@parra.catholic.edu.au
