Year Four - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Parents,
This week has been short but full of excitement. With a day off on Thursday and coming back today for Book Day. The students were super excited to share their character and what book they have come from.
Religious Education focus: Next week students will prepare for our Community Mass. They will be unpacking the scripture about “Who is my neighbour?”
English focus: We will continue to read “Storm Boy” and complete grammar, vocabulary and comprehension tasks related to the text. Students will continue to write their information report on the Coorong, focusing on using the correct tense, incorporating subheadings for clarity, and using precise language with descriptive adjectives.
Mathematics focus: Students will continue learning about angles. They will learn the angle names including acute, obtuse, straight angle, reflex and revolution, and recognise their relationship to a right angle
Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR: Students will begin exploring and comparing the roles of male and female characters in a 2000s based novel. They will also examine how these roles have evolved in modern children’s literature.
Auslan: In Auslan students will be learning about how to show a character’s action in a signed story. They will be learning the signs to some of the following vocabulary: Close the door, Close the book, I don't have, How do you sign...?, etc.
