3/4 TERM REVIEW

Hello 3/4 Families,

Congratulations to our students for a successful and jam-packed Term Two! We've achieved a lot this term through Inquiry, making connections between our garden program and the Maths and Literacy curriculums. Students have had input in their learning throughout the term and made proposals for impactful and lasting changes to our school garden. Thank you to the parents for your support of the students this term, including those who have helped us on excursions, and supporting your child's completion of homework. Read on to see some highlights of our term in 3/4.

LITERACY

GARDEN PROPOSALS

Our students worked collaboratively to brainstorm and present improvements to the school garden and chicken coop, through powerpoint presentations and speeches in front of their classes. We were impressed with their persuasive techniques and the research they put into making meaningful proposals. We look forward to seeing some of these proposals come to life next semester!

MATHS

This term in Maths we focused on multiplication and division. Students explored lots of worded problems and real-life contexts, solving problems using materials, pictures and even using the vertical algorithm! The students enjoyed creating 2D and 3D shapes in Minecraft Education to show their understanding of shape, perimeter and area.

INQUIRY & SCIENCE

SCIENCE

This term, students learned about Earth & Space, exploring the orbits of the moon and Earth. They created stop motion videos to demonstrate their understanding.

PLATOON

Students enjoyed playing team sports this term in Platoon. They practised sportsmanship and teamwork in tee-ball, soccer and netball, and played impressively at the Winter Sports Gala Day a few weeks ago.

FIRST NATIONS LEARNING

This term, students have learned about ways of communication for First Nations Peoples, including with talking sticks and through Dreamtime stories. They also researched important Indigenous figures and their contributions to our society including Adam Goodes, Vincent Lingiari, Cathy Freeman, Pemulwuy and others. Students also engaged with stories written by First Nations authors in Library sessions.

We look forward to a fun-filled Term 3 where we explore the Olympics through Maths, Literacy and even Platoon! The students are excited for Pyjama Day on Friday 19th of July, and whole-school Mini-Olympics on Monday 29th of July

Have a restful and enjoyable break, and we will see the students on Monday 15th of July.
