Foundation News

Hello again from the Foundation Team,

The last two weeks have been great for our buddies with two terrific activities.

First, the year six’s helped the Foundation students to create a craft heart for our Liturgy for the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. 

We took the Foundation students over to the 5/6 rooms for a change, (Is there where the buddies live? Was one question!)

Here, the buddies patiently helped the little ones thread wool through a heart design.

Then there was the Teddy Bear Picnic which was enjoyed by all.

Students enjoyed bringing in their teddy bear and favourite book which they read with their buddy and to their teddy. 

We completed three activities;

• Icing and decorating a teddy bear biscuit - which was enjoyed in the sun during the picnic
• Making our own bear with a concertina fold
• Drawing our own teddy bear from a video tutorial

The year 6 buddies were fantastic bringing their own teddies and picnic blankets and helped their little buddies so well with each activity. They especially enjoyed the decorated teddy bear biscuit! 

The learning continues in Foundation as our readers are getting longer - so are our sentences that we can write. 

Thanks for all the continued support at home particularly with home reading. We now have some students who have reached 100 nights of home reading and were able to pick a lucky dip prize from our special 100 nights mystery box!

The Bernie trophy winners for the past two weeks were Foundation Everitt and Foundation Carnovale.
