TERM 2 ART AWARDS
GRADE 6
This term in Art, Grade 6 students explored Organisation Line Drawing techniques. Famous artists like Pablo Picasso and Leonardo da Vinci created striking line art. In many cases the works are viewed as ‘studies’ or precursors to the masterpieces which are eventually created. Organisational line exercises are designed to teach the brain, eyes and hands to work together. Throughout a series of lessons students constructed straight lines and ellipses to represent two-dimensional and three dimensional portions of various objects. The skills learnt guided students to choose an object for their final project. An object that they believed they could make a true attempt at creating three different perspectives.
Congratulations to Imogen for her courage to take on the human hand, her ability to create planned and expressive lines in her work makes her our Grade 6 art award winner for this term. A special mention is also needed to acknowledge the work of Kelsee and Bella who followed the design brief of proportionally planned lines to support the development of more detailed realistic proportions while drawing an object.

GRADE 5
This term in Art, Grade 5 students explored the concept of perspective drawing. Architect Filippo Brunelleschi is considered to be the father of perspective drawing, while Raphael established himself as the master of perspective with his famous “School of Athens” fresco in the Vatican. After a series of structured one-point and two-point drawing technique lessons students were able to use the skills learnt to create their own perspective masterpiece. Congratulations to Miley for her ability to create a well planned composition combining both one & two point perspective techniques. Special mentions go to Mack for his use of space to create a planned composition and Charlotte for taking on the challenge of experimenting with more complicated forms.

GARDEN NEWS
As our oranges ripen, lots of students enjoyed oranges straight from the tree this week. The classic 'orange mouth' was a popular trick! Like everyone this time of year, we have an abundance of weeds which lots of grades have been tackling.
Our prep students have brightened up the garden area with the colourful wind chimes they made in STEM.
ART NEWS - WHOLE SCHOOL ART DISPLAY
When attending parent learning conversations next term be sure to wander through the Rosarium area where you will find a piece of art created by every student in the school. This is a great opportunity to celebrate the artistic talent at Holy Rosary!
