Italian

In 5/6, we completed our unit of work on ‘Pasta’  with a surprise pasta lunch!

We researched the story of Pasta, types of pasta, how to make pasta and the many famous places to eat the best pasta.

We discovered there are over 300 types of pasta.

Did you know that penne pasta, a common pasta to eat, means ‘quills’ or ‘pens.’ Early pens were made from quills or bird feathers, cut at an angle and dipped into ink for writing. The pasta ‘pens’ are short tubes cut at an angle to give them their characteristic pointed, quill pen-like shape.

The students thoroughly enjoyed being a part of our lunch which was served in the hall. We topped it off with a gelato, which was generously donated by Mubble Sorrento.

Many thanks to Adriana, Sarah, Jess C and Nick for giving up their time to help with the cooking and serving.
