Stage 1

A message from Stage 1

Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in your child's education. Stage 1 students should be proud of their accomplishments this semester. Have a safe and relaxing break and we look forward to working with you next term.

Reminders

Please continue to send home readers to school. Reading with your child supports classroom learning and encourages a love of reading at home.

Please label your child's clothing so it can be promptly returned. While we are very proud of the students who have represented our school at the PSSA level, students are reminded that these representative hoodies are to be worn on sport days only.

English

We have been studying procedural texts, focusing on their purpose and the essential features required to create our own procedure. The words notorious, fail and scrub have been our vocabulary focus over the past few weeks. We have also been practicing the ‘tricky words’ why, house, because, really, animal and alright.

Mathematics

We have been learning that fractions represent parts of a whole, specifically recognising halves and quarters. We have also been learning about time, including understanding of "o'clock," "quarter past," "half past," and "quarter to" the hour.
