Principal's Report

Cirque Revival Concerts

Last Thursday evening, Year 3 and 4 families had tickets to see the hottest show in town, ‘Cirque Revival’! Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School was the venue for two spectacular performances, with our Year 3 students starting proceedings with their circus flips and tricks, followed by the Year 4 performers who brought their talents to the stage in equal measure.

It was a wonderful evening, with the oohs and aahs, claps and cheers from the audience adding to the special atmosphere. Congratulations to our students for displaying such confidence, energy and talent, along with a huge amount of fun. I am sure that the night is something that will stay long in their memory.

There are many people to thank for making this event happen. We had our artists in residence  Rich and Isaac from Circus Nexus who visited FPS and taught the students the circus skills which they performed so expertly. Thank you to the Year 3 and 4 teachers who have supported the students all term, and also to all of the teachers who assisted in the evening to help the event run smoothly. Congratulations to Olivia, our performing arts teacher who coordinated the event – we are thankful for your energy, passion and commitment.

Book Sculpture Exhibition

The artist in residence program does not only apply to performing arts, but we have also been graced by the visits of artist Nicholas Jones to the art studio for two weeks. In line with the students’ work on Salvador Dali, Nicholas taught every class the art of book sculpting – turning the ordinary into the surreal!

Families are invited to view our students’ book sculptures in the Old Hall, Monday 17 – Thursday 20 June, 3:30 – 3:45pm. Students will be able to take their sculptures home after the final day of the exhibition.

A big thank you to Marjie for all of her preparation and imagination with this project.

Congratulations to Sophie & to Emily

It has been a time of celebration for our staff, with two of our teachers welcoming their new arrivals into the world.

Congratulations to Sophie on the arrival of baby Lola, and congratulations to Emily on the arrival of baby Eliza. Sending FPS’ best wishes to both families.

Year 6 Camp

Next week our Year 6 students will enjoy a five day camp at Camp Jungai. Camp is often a student’s highlight, not only of the year, but of their time at FPS. We are sure that everyone will have a wonderful experience, and we look forward to hearing about it when they return.
