Winter Solstice - tomorrow night

We are excited by the response to our Parents' Association 'Winter Solstice' event, taking place after school tomorrow (Thursday 20th June).

To mark the shortest day of the year, families will come together to enjoy hot soup, make lanterns and enjoy special entertainment from our SKiPPS orchestra and a very special guest. There will be mulled wine for the adults to warm us up.

Once darkness falls, we will take our lanterns on a parade through the park to celebrate the solstice.

Ticket sales are now closed and we are thrilled that we have sold over 250 tickets in total. It promises to be a great new event for our school.

With numbers so large, we require additional volunteers to support on the evening with the warming and serving of soup and the management of the lantern making. If you are able to help out, please sign up for a slot below;

With numbers being so large and, as an event taking place outside of the school day, it is vital that all children in attendance are accompanied and closely supervised by an parent or carer.

The event is not run or staffed by the school or Team Kids and is instead being organised by a very small group of wonderful, committed parent volunteers. At the event they will be working incredibly hard to serve soup, arrange the lantern materials and the entertainment. They are not able to also provide supervision or childcare for the children taking part.

Asking them to do this puts them in an awkward situation.

Any children in attendance remain the responsibility of their parent/carer and the school or SKiPPA do not accept responsibility for their supervision. If you cannot be there with your child then sadly this event is not for you and there will be plenty of other activities and events later in the year that you can get involved with.
