School Council
BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED
Last year at SMPPS the School Council had to consider the future of the Parent Club as there were no nominations from any community members to lead or be part of the Club. Our options were to make the Club inactive, or to dissolve the Club entirely. We agreed to make the Parent Club inactive with a spark of hope that it might be something we can reactivate in the future.
With a commitment to keep building our sense of school community and helping to raise funds for the school, the bulk of the volunteer work for event coordination and management is now undertaken by our School Council sub committees and a small number of volunteers.
We need your help. This might just be for one hour, for one project, or for one term.
In term 3 we will have our very first whole of school athletics carnival, our whole of school performing arts performance, and our fundraising Disco Bingo event.
Please consider joining a sub-committee or signing up to help out - whatever time you can give will be appreciated, and your support will make a difference.
Feel free to reach out for more information to any of the sub-committee conveners or myself:

EVENTS & FUNDRAISING SUB COMMITTEE
What a fantastic start to 2024 with a record fundraising effort from the SMPPS Walkathon! Thank you so much to Amanda McConaghy for all the hard work she has put in this year; Amanda has worked tirelessly organising the Welcome Bowling event in Feb, all the background work for the Mother's Day breakfast at school, as well as coordinating communications between staff admin, teachers and parent reps. We are forever grateful for all that she does.
Semester 2 is shaping up to be a busy one – especially Term 3!
During the school holidays, Ms Paech will be onsite at school the following days:
Monday 1st July 10am – 4pm
Monday 8th July 10am – 4pm
Craft based and sewing activities, all skill levels welcome. If you have a sewing machine, you are more than welcome to bring it along.
Children are welcome to join, however are not permitted to be running around the school or on equipment due to TheirCare operating during these times.
Ms Paech will be located in the Art Room, however all helpers and volunteers are required to sign in at the office prior to going to the Art Room.
Additional requests for help with sets, staging, AV equipment, costumes, assistance on the day will be sent out shortly with a Sign Up Genius.
Finally, I would like to put out a call out for anyone interested in joining the Events & Fundraising Sub Committee. These events cannot happen without our parent/s working together, and currently we have a very small team of parents doing an enormous amount. We are wanting to involve the broader community, to integrate the many cultures at our school into our school events, to ensure that all the different needs, or as many as possible, are considered.
If you are feeling unsure, are hesitant of committing, “don’t think that you’d be good”, please still reach out. Even if it’s to just sit and have a chat with you, a group of your friends that have an idea or anything, please let myself or Ms Arnold know.
Email: smpps.fundraising@gmail.com
We would love to involve more people!
In the meantime, have a great holiday everyone! Rest up, Term 3 is going to be HUGE!!
