Grade 2

It’s been a busy couple of weeks in Year 2!  Here is what has been happening…

Crazy Hair Day

On September 6th,, our school had a colourful crazy hair and funky hat day, with the majority of our students coming to school with some bright and colourful hair do’s!

Check out all the photos from the day on the school's Facebook Page!

Mathematics

In our math lessons over the past fortnight, students have been finishing up our multiplication and division focus. This week we have delved into Location and are learning all about preposition words and following directions using words such as straight, above, below and so on.

The explicit focus on relevant vocabulary in this unit helps the students build their understanding of the world around them and proximity.

Initialit In literacy, our focus this week has been on: contractions, and students have been exploring how two words become one, and the apostrophe is used to replace an unneeded letter.

Homework

Please make sure your children are practising their spelling words, doing some reading and completing their Maths Online Tasks over the week. If you need your children’s passwords for Maths Online again, please email their teacher!

We are looking forward to our ‘Solve It’ incursion!

Solve it is designed to engage students in an exciting, hands-on learning experience where they will work as Mini Detectives. In teams, students will collaborate to solve a series of challenging clues, using their knowledge in Maths, English, and Science. This interactive program is modelled after real-world crime scene investigations and is designed to build critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. By navigating through various scenarios, students will apply their classroom learning in a fun and practical way, fostering a deeper understanding of the content.
